STA upskill for STA award teachers and SE level 1 to the new STA Swim Teacher


Aim of the course:
Following the launch of the STA Swimming Teacher qualification, STA have mapped the qualifications to allow holders of the STA Award in Teaching Swimming qualification to complete an upskill pathway to either gain recognition of completion or should they wish, can upskill to hold the STA Swimming Teacher qualification certificate.
Please note, the STA Award in Teaching Swimming qualification is still a valid qualification. It is not a mandatory requirement for swimming teachers to attend a STA Swimming Teacher course.
Pre-Requisites:
Be 16 years of age
Course: This option is for swimming teachers ( STA AWARD HOLDERS) who require or would like to hold the STA Swimming Teacher qualification certificate.
STA Award teachers complete the online upskill programme .
The online programme will cover:

Qualification changes
-
Participant centred teaching approach
-
Water Safety Skills
-
Diving.
On completion of the programme, swimming teachers are required to complete the STA Swimming Teacher Qualification MCQ assessment and be assessed delivering a 30 minute practical lesson on either: survival skills, rescue skills or diving to between 4 – 6 participants.

learners must provide a copy of their Level 1 Swimming Assistant qualification certificate prior to booking.
earners may attend the STA Swimming Teacher qualification and will be exempt from the following blended learning programmes:

Introduction to Essential Swimming Skills and Strokes

Legal, Health and Safety.

Learners will still be required to complete all remaining blended learning programmes, on-course activities, practical teaching sessions, and assessment components. RPL can only be applied to the specific programmes and content listed above.

On successful completion, learners will be awarded a regulated STA Swimming Teacher qualification certificate, receive 12 months of STA membership including Public Liability Insurance and Professional Indemnity Insurance, and gain access to a range of post-course CPD opportunities to support their ongoing teaching development.
